Now in their second decade and with huge global acclaim, why hasn’t Australia heard of Umphrey’s McGee?
Since forming in the late ’90s, Umphrey’s McGee has regularly performed at US festivals, toured Europe multiple times and performed at Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival.
The band is known for their innovative approach to distributing music. Constantly recording their energetic live performances, the band makes these available online through many of their website bases. They have even created an interactive fan experience where audience members ‘conduct’ the band’s improvisations live in concert through mobile phone technology.

Australia will finally experience Umphrey’s McGee when they play the Bluesfest on Saturday, April 3, and Monday, April 5.
Celebrating its 21st birthday, the Bluesfest is moving to its new home at the Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm (just off the Pacific Highway, 12 minutes north of Byron). The festival runs over Easter from Thursday to Monday, April 1-5.
